Monique, a dedicated member of the NPAA Victoria branch, recently confronted serious allegations related to breach of conduct and patient confidentiality.

Allegations including breaching patient confidentiality by accessing a friend's medical file. Such allegations not only threatened her professional reputation but also posed significant implications for her career and standing within the healthcare facility.

Due to the complexity of these accusations Monique reached out to NPAA for assistance.

After thorough investigation and deliberation, it was determined that not all allegations against Monique could be substantiated. Monique acknowledged one specific allegation, demonstrating accountability and a willingness to address concerns raised.

Monique’s assigned case manager stepped in to support her by drafting a comprehensive response to the allegations and providing guidance and representation in meetings with HR and her Nurse Unit Manager.

As a result of NPAA's advocacy Monique received a first and final warning, which will remain on file for 18 months. An outcome that could have been more severe, possibly leading to termination.
