Nursing Christmas Holidays 2023 - 2024 Pay Rates

Christmas Holiday Pay Rates for Applicable for Department of Health Victoria/Public Sector Employees: 


24th December 2023 (Sunday) - Christmas Eve
  • Normal Sunday Penalty rates - Victoria & Tasmania

25th December 2023 (Monday) - Christmas Day

  • Working - 200%                         - Victoria
    Normally rostered, then paid 100% ordinary wage

  • Working - 250%                         - Tasmania
    Normally rostered, then paid 100% ordinary wage or substitute for another day.

26th December 2023 (Tuesday) - Boxing Day

  • Working - 200%                         - Victoria
    Normally rostered, then paid 100% ordinary wage

  • Working - 250%                         - Tasmania
    Normally rostered, then paid 100% ordinary wage or substitute for another day.

31st December 2023 (Sunday) - New Years Eve

  • Normal Sunday Penalty rates - Victoria & Tasmania

1st January 2024 (Monday) - New Years Day

  • Working - 200%                         - Victoria
    Normally rostered, then paid 100% ordinary wage

  • Working - 250%                         - Tasmania
    Normally rostered, then paid 100% ordinary wage or substitute for another day.

Private & Aged Care - Your public holiday entitlements within the private sector will vary depending upon your employer and award and/or enterprise agreement.
