Did you know, Nurses in Victoria can't get a bigger than 3% pay rise and CPI is currently at 3.6%? This means Victorian nurses best deal possible is a pay cut...
The ANMFVIC are happy to tell their members a 3% pay increase is a great deal for nurses when in reality it doesn't even keep up with inflation. Finally members are waking up to this nonsense.
We are bringing our plan to the bargaining table to pay Vic Nurses 41.75% more.
We don't need a bigger budget to pay nurses/midwives more. Let us show you how...
Based on analysis by NPAV, a shift to put nurses in charge of hospitals can create savings that can be reinvested in higher pay for nurses.
In Victoria, there are 5 administrators for every 10 nurses. In France and most of Europe, there is 1 administrator for every 10 nurses/midwives.
All References and detailed Calculations can be found below. In summary, by reducing the Administrator to Nurse/Midwife ratio from 5:10 to 1:10 in Victoria would cause a saving of $1,620,370,976.95 per year.
If these savings were passed on to nurses in the form of a pay rise, the government can afford to pay nurses on average 41.75% more without increasing the budget.
