Aged Care Award increases from July 2023: Know your new paypoint

With the wage increases across the Aged Care industry at the start of the financial year figuring out what your new minimum hourly base wage rate can be confusing, but it doesn't have to be.

The Nurses Award 2020 wage for aged care workers received a boost from July 1st, with a 15% increase by the Fair Work Commission. This was further followed by an additional 5.75%, to align with the national minimum wage increase.

Check the table below for the minimum base wage that must be paid starting from July 1st, 2023 (inclusive of the 15% and the 5.75%).

If you are a nurse who receives an hourly base rate higher than the standard Award rate, it's essential for you to be aware of your specific pay point within your designated Award classification. This calculation will help you ascertain whether your pay remains compliant with the award rate. It's important to note that your Award pay point number might not necessarily align with your current pay point number.
